Community-Based Advocacy

Often individuals who have experienced sexual and/or domestic violence are faced with navigating multiple systems and agencies. This can involve law enforcement, the courts, probation and parole, social services, employment, landlords, healthcare and medical facilities, schools and educational organizations and others. Navigating multiple systems, while recovering from trauma or while experiencing a coercive or violent relationship, can be overwhelming. Advocates can assist individuals who are attempting to access community resources by advocating on their behalf and by educating community members on the impact of sexual and domestic violence.
