Part-Time Thrift Store Associate

The Haven is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Thrift Store Sales Associate to support the daily operations of our thrift shop. This role plays a vital part in sustaining The Haven’s mission by generating revenue to support survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence, while providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming shopping environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Customer Service: Provide exceptional service, process cash/credit transactions accurately, and ensure daily reconciliation and reporting.

  • Store Operations: Receive, sort, and display donations; maintain a clean, safe, and organized store; complete opening and closing duties.

  • Volunteer & Team Collaboration: Support and work alongside volunteers, fostering a positive and productive environment.

  • Inventory & Asset Protection: Organize merchandise, safeguard assets, and follow procedures for donation and inventory management.

  • Confidentiality & Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality regarding customers using vouchers or disclosing histories with The Haven.

  • Other Duties: Perform tasks as assigned by the Thrift Shop Manager.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Retail and/or thrift store sales experience with strong customer service skills.

  • Effective interaction with staff and volunteers.

  • Self-motivated, creative, resourceful, organized, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence.

  • Proficient in cash/credit handling and reconciliation.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical activities including standing, walking, and bending.

  • Commitment to The Haven’s mission and confidentiality standards.

 

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.77 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Executive Director
The Haven is seeking an Executive Director (ED) who provides strategic leadership and overall management for the organization in alignment with its mission, vision, and values. The ED is responsible for financial stewardship, program oversight, staff supervision, and cultivating strong relationships with funders, partners, and the community. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED ensures organizational sustainability, effective governance, and high-quality services for survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence, and stalking.

 

Team:
This position supervises the Office Administrator, Community Resilience Coordinator, Associate Director, and Grant & HR Manager.

 

Supervisor:
This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience;

  2. 5+ years of leadership in nonprofit or human services; preferred victim advocacy experience with

  3. intimate partner and sexual violence, and stalking;

  4. Knowledge of trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices;

  5. Success in strategic planning, program and operations management;

  6. Experience with fundraising, grant writing, and donor engagement;

  7. Strong financial management skills;

  8. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage an annual budget to ensure financial sustainability.

  • Oversee management of all bank accounts in accordance with agency protocols.

  • Ensure appropriate use of restricted and unrestricted funds in compliance with donor, foundation, and government requirements.

  • Prepare and present financial reports for funders and the Board of Directors.

  • Coordinate with staff to prepare for the annual financial audit.

2. Grants and Development:

  • In partnership with the Grant & HR Manager and staff, complete and oversee all state and federal grant applications, invoicing, and reporting.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with monitors and representatives of funding agencies.

  • Assist the Grant & HR Manager and Development Team in identifying foundation and individual grant opportunities, preparing proposals, and stewarding donors.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential donors to strengthen financial support.

  • Assist with creating materials, presentations, and outreach efforts to promote agency services and resources.

3. Board Relations and Governance:

  • Ensure the Executive Committee and full Board are informed of agency activities, progress, and challenges.

  • Provide Board members with agendas, minutes, ED reports, and related materials one week prior to meetings.

  • Serve as a non-voting staff representative on the Finance, Personnel, Development, and other assigned committees.

  • Attend all Board meetings and assist with recruitment of new Board members.

  • Collaborate with the Board to establish organizational priorities, guide strategic planning, and ensure effective governance.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with each Director on the Board.

4. Staff Leadership and Supervision:

  • Directly supervise the Office Administrator, Community Resilience Coordinator, Associate Director, and Grant & HR Manager.

  • Review and approve timesheets, mileage, and leave requests for supervisees.

  • Facilitate regular staff Zoom meetings to promote communication and collaboration.

  • Ensure staff have resources and support to carry out services outlined in Strategic and Work Plans.

  • Foster professional growth of supervisees through training, coaching, and mentorship.

  • Promote a safe, equitable, and trauma-informed workplace culture consistent with agency values.

5. Program Oversight and Community Partnerships:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of trauma-informed programs and services to ensure they meet community needs.

  • Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with community stakeholders, including law enforcement, healthcare, education, and nonprofit organizations.

  • Represent the organization at meetings, community events, and technical assistance opportunities offered by funders.

  • Collaborate with partners to enhance the community response to intimate partner and sexual violence.
